  • Department of Computer Science and Technology students selected for final round of National Level Creativity Aptitude at IIT, Delhi. more

    NCAT(National Creativity Aptitude Test) 2013 is organized by International forum for Excellence in higher education and first round of exam was conducted at Department of Computer Science and Technology on 9th February this year. The NCAT is designed to sensitize the students to the domain of creative thinking and motivate them to read, learn and practice the same. The objective of NCAT is to assess the creativity quotient of a student and his/her level of motivation. Total 70 students from Five year Integrated MScIT and MScCA(First and Second year students) took part in it, out of which four students of Department of Computer Science and Technology are selected for final round. Qualified students will participate for final round at IIT Delhi on June 15,2013. Qualified students are:

  • 5 Year Integrated M.Sc.(IT) - 4th Semester Students bring the "Winner" titles in National level Technical symposium - Inspire - 13, Date: 18-19th March 2013 more

    C.K. Pithawalla College of Engineering and Technology, Surat had organized national level technical symposium - "Inspire - 13" on 18th & 19th March 2013. In this event, there were different competitions like NFS, Web Development, C Programming, C & C++ Quiz competition, Project Presentation etc. for UG and PG students of IT. In NFS competition total 187 students across the country participated. From Department of Computer Science and Technology, - 4th Semester students of 5 Year Integrated M.Sc.(IT) participated. We feel honored that both 1st and 2nd ranks have been won by our students. We congratulate them for taking efforts and winning the competition.

    SRIMCA organized two technical sessions on 15th March, 2013. Two eminent personalities in the field of computer science Dr. Devesh Jinwala and Dr. Mukesh Zaveri, from Sardar Vallabhbhai, National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat have delivered expert talk. Around 200 audience including students & faculty members attended these sessions.

    First session was conducted by Dr. Devesh C. Jinwala. He spoke on Introduction to wireless sensor network & its applications, the basic structure and the security issues that arise in it. He has focused on the live research themes related to wireless sensor network in which students can do their dissertation.

    Dr. Mukesh Zaveri conducted the second session. He emphasized the topics like image definition, need of image processing and various applications of Image processing. He covered fundamentals of image processing steps, operations on image, image processing in spatial domain, frequency domain and various methods used in image processing with its applications. He solved various queries of student regarding histogram processing, segmentation and object recognition.

    Faculty of Technology, Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad had organized national level event - "Felicific - 13" on 5th March 2013. In this event, there were different competitions like NFS, Web Development, Non-Tech PPT etc. for UG and PG students of IT. In Non-Tech PPT competition total 200 students participated. From Department of Computer Science and Technology, U T University a 2nd semester student - Vishal N. Zaveri - of 5 Years Integrated MSc(IT) class participated. It's a moment of immense pride & pleasure that he has secured 1st rank. He presented PPT on "Information Technology for Blinds" Non-Tech category. We heartily congratulate him for his excellent achievement.

    SRIMCA has organized an inter college competition - "IT Talent Hunt - 2012" on 09th November, 2012 which consisting of competitions in languages like "C" and "Java" for undergraduate and post-graduate students. Students of many institutes of UTU participated in this competition. Mr. Jitendra Upadhyay and Ms. Priti Prajapati were the coordinator of competition.

    Students of F.Y. M.Sc.(IT) , Ms. Hemali Patel and Ms. Shivani Naik got the second rank in C Junkyard. Department of Computer Science and Technology heartily congratulate them.

    Prize distribution ceremony has been accomplished by Dr. Dinesh Shah (Provost, UTU), Dr. Bankim Patel (Director, SRIMCA) and Mr. Bhagubhai Patel (President of BPKM). They blessed students with their inspiring words. Dr. Dinesh Shah said that today is the world of competition and each student has to participate. So they can know that where they stand. Mr. Bhagubhai Patel also congratulates the winner and said that competition provides platform to the students to evaluate themselves. Also wish that institutes will organize more competitions in future.

    On 20th Oct, 2012 an expert person Mr. Pranav Mehta delivered an expert talk on "Mind Power and Meditation".

    He started this session by asking a simple question about life to students. Then he explained in more detail about what is life as well as people wants which type of life. He gave guidanceto achieve a successful life. For that explained how to achieve good life by explaining what is success, result, action, thought and belief.

    After that he explained more detail on beliefas well as different types of beliefs in human mind. To prove this he gave many exercises to students. He ends this session by showing inspiration videos to students.

    All first year students of MSCIT, MSC(CA) and faculty members presented during this session.

    Dr. N. L. Kalthiahas delivered expert talk on "Efficiency of Search Techniques" on 11th October, 2012. He got his Ph.D. degree from IIT, Kanpur. He was the head of the Department of Mathematics at VNSGU. He has published many books and guided many Ph.D. students. Currently he is active at IGNOU Study Centre, Surat.

    As we know Data Structure is one of the fundamental subjects of computer science. Clear understanding of this subject provides a gateway of the subject like object oriented languages, system analysis and design and many more.Dr. N. L. Kalthiasir havefocused on complexity of algorithm and its feature like Organized, Disorganized and Computational Simplicity. He also saw that how to calculate complexity by giving different examples. 100+ students of S.Y. M.Sc. (IT) have attended the session.

  • A One day Seminar on "Software Testing and Quality Assurance" organized by DCST, Date: 06th October 2012 more

    A One day seminar on "Software Testing and Quality Assurance" was organized on 6th October'2012, at 11.00 am in the Shrimad Hall for the students of SYM.Sc.CA .

    The basic objective of the seminar was to enlighten the mutually supportive activities involved in the software development lifecycle: management, engineering, testing and quality assurance. The primary objective was to bring home the testing as executed in the industry. Mr. Pratik Shah was the key speaker of the seminar.

    Mr Pratik has over 8 years of experience in Software Testing and QA. He is ISTQB (International Software Testing Quality Board) certified and is currently working as a Test Location Lead in QGB, Baroda one of the UK based MNC for India branch. He has been associated with well known companies like Patni, TCS and RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland). He had also visited London and Cambridge for executing major projects at customer's end and has a blend of working experience in domain such as manufacturing, Insurance, Banking, and Retail.

    Mr. Pratik initiated the session discussing SDLC and STLC to the students and its importance. He also made the students aware regarding the importance of Software Testing in career and emphasized the role of a Tester in the real world market. He also demonstrated the sample applications and development of Test Plan, Test Cases and introduction to QTP Tool. He demonstrated the recording, editing, running of scripts and analysis of the scripts and test pass/fail results etc.

    Post lunch session started at around 1.15pm, this session was enriched by Mr. Pratik where he demonstrated the sample applications and development of Test Plan, Test Cases and introduction to QTP Tool.

    The last session was practical demonstration of QTP Tool where he showed recording, editing, running of scripts and analysis of the scripts and test pass/fail results etc.

    Approximately 250 students participated in the seminar. Presence of faculties from engineering as well from the institute was also found namely Mr. Kalpesh Lad, Mr Jitendra Nasriwala, Mr. Sandip Delwadkar,Mr. Sapan Naik, Ms. Jaishree Tailor, Ms. Bhumika Patel, Ms Rutu Patel, Ms Anuja Vaidya, Ms Pooja Kadam.

    Mr. Kalpesh Lad managed the overall co-ordination of the seminar to make happen. Dr Bankim Patel, facilitated in the smooth execution of the seminar.

  • "Women Development and Anti-Sexual Harassment Awareness Program-2012", Date: 12th September 2012 more

    Women's Development and Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell of the institute organized an awareness program for the first year female students BCA on 12th September'2012.

The cell focused on empowering female students from all the perspective for better living and progress personally and professionally.

    The institute had organized one day meditation program on 25th August 2012.

    The session started at 09:45 am by welcoming the member from Shri Ramchandra Mission. Ms. Jaishree Tailor extended a warm welcome to all the members of Shri Ramchandra Mission, Chennai. The key speaker of the program Shri Sureshbhai Rajgopalan addressed the students. Mr. Rajendrabhai Rathod made the students aware about Shri Ramchandra Mission and Shri Sureshbhai Rajgopalan.

    Shri Sureshbhai interacted with the students of Department of Computer Science & Technology, UTU during 9:45 am to 10:45 am at Shrimad Hall. During the interaction, Shri Sureshbhai enlightened the students about the meditation, its advantages and shared his experience about meditation. He further emphasized on human mind and its control on actions with vivid examples of day to day life. Towards the end of the session interested students practically meditated as instructed by the Prefacts.

    Mr. Dhirendra N. Tandel delivered vote of thanks and mementos as a token of appreciation to all the members along with Ms. Jaishree Tailor, Ms. Monika Naik, Mr. Amish Patel, Ms. Khusbhu Patel, Ms. Hetvi Thakor, Mr. Sandip Patel, Mr. Manish Vala.

    More than 220 students from MScIT and MScCA courses and 8 faculty members had attended the succeeding meditation sessions for consecutive 3 days. The faculty members and the students who attended the session experienced relief. They further shared their views with respect to peace they felt and energetic throughout the day without any strain. They conveyed a positive message to preach and practice meditation on a daily basis.

    To rejoice in happiness and indulge in celebration, saluting the ones who made it possible. Singing in their admiration, who made India stand high & mighty, by considering them our inspiration, Faculty of Computer Science & Technology celebrated the 66th Independence Day on 14th of August, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. onwards with lots of fun and zeal by organizing the competitive events based explicitly on the theme of Independence day, for students of BCA, Five Years Integrated M.Sc. I.T., MCA and M.Sc. C.A.

    All the competitive events were handled smoothly by the faculty members involved in Cultural Committee namely, Ms. Preeti Bhatt, Ms. Monika Naik, Mr. Pinkesh Patel, Mr. Vikas Patel, Ms. Khushbu Das and leaded by Mr. Ketan Naik.

    Around 50 students enrolled their names in the above stated event categories and performed with a full of enthusiasm, excitement and with a positive competitive attitude in this celebration, which shows their true love towards nation and a tribute to our brave JAVANS, who sacrificed their lives for saving nation and around 1000 students celebrated this event with full of pleasure. Also, all the faculty members contributed their valuable time as well as efforts for the success of the event.

  • Orientation Program 2012, Date: 2nd to 5th July 2012 more

    The Orientation Program for the year 2012 begun with an inaugural function at 11.00 a.m.hosted by Ms. Himadri Patel - Asst.Prof.BVPIMCT, Ms. Bhumika Patel-Asst.Prof. SRIMCA. The students of BCA 5th Semester beautifully recited the prayer 'Bahu Pujya Kera Pujthi'.

    The Lamp Lighting ceremony was being graced by Dr. Bankim Patel, Director SRIMCA.Mr Jitendra Nasriwala Associate Prof. SRIMCA, Ms Jaishree Tailor & Ms. Jikitsha Sheth Asst.Prof SRIMCA, Ms Nehal Adhvaryu.

    Ms Jaishree Tailor Asst. Prof of SRIMCA extended a warm welcome to the new batch, as well as to the faculty and staff with a thriving welcome speech.

    Dr. Bankim Patel expressed the building blocks of institute and its academic policy. He emphasized on discipline and punctuality and its role in academic, personal and professional life. He clearly revealed that the institute's basic intention is to up-lift the students and motivate them. He ended his speech by blessing the students and wishing them a good-healthy time at campus.

    After the inaugural function the next session comprised of Presentation with an idea to give the student a summary about the Trust, Affiliated Institutes, Best Practices, Infrastructure facilities, Education Enrichment Initiatives, Achievements, Faculty Profile, and Placement. The presentation was initiated by Ms. Himadri Patel -Asst.Prof.BVPIMCT, Ms. Bhumika Patel-Asst.Prof. SRIMCA

    The post lunch session of the Orientation Program 2012 was enriched with Laughter Yoga. Mr. Nilesh Masalawala - Trainer, Advantage Hospital, Surat, delivered a very interesting session on "Laughter Yoga". The session was very helpful to solve our real life problems like headache, cold, mantel stress etc by laughter therapy. He also provides other many laughter therapies, which will helpful to come out from major dieses without any allopathic treatment. Faculties Ms. Yagni Desai, Ms. Priti Bhatt, Ms. Sneha Mandavia, Ms. Ruchi Naik, Ms. Khushbu J. Das took care for the smooth functioning of the session.

    The Day 1 of the orientation program ended with the Campus Visit of the students intending to make them aware about the physical location of infrastructure facilities. Mr Sandip Delwadkar,Mr Dhirendra Tandel, Mr Sandip Patel, Mr Krishnamurthi Rudra, Ms Hetvi, Mr Puja Sharma, Mr Khusbhu efficiently managed and co-ordinated the session with the students of TYBCA.

    Mr Vikas Patel co-ordinated to pay heritage to the nation by singing of National Anthem. All the students gathered in the lobby and sung the national anthem in well discipline.

    The first hour of the Day 2 of the Orientation Program commenced with Expert talk on "Grooming & Etiquettes" by Miss Rozy Patel, An interactive session was delivered by Miss Rozy Patel at the Shrimad Hall for understanding and developing the concept of Personality and positive attitude towards life as if they were going to start their professional career.

    She began the session by asking the students that what according to them personality was. She then made the students understand that personality as a whole cannot be defined without the positive attitude.

    She also made them understand what confidence actually means and how to react or respond to the real life situations which we people face in our day-to-day life. She also made them understand that the positive attitude is one of the key which helps us to make decisions and helps us to face the challenges and the responsibilities in work and life.

    Towards the end of session, the students and faculty members offered a vote of thanks. Mr. Ketan Naik, Mr Pinkesh Patel, Mr Sapan Naik, Ms Pooja Kadam, Ms Khusbu Das and Mr Manish Vala co-ordinated to make the session successful

    Two parallel sessions comprised of: Faculty-Parents Meet at 11.00 a.m.

    It was solely dedicated to the Parents of the new batch. Dr. Bankim Patel, Director SRIMCA made the parents aware by disclosing the facts and realities of the field of Computer Science and Technology and the cut-throat competition of the business world. He also highlighted the best practices of the institutes like discipline, punctuality, continuous evaluation system, attendance, mentoring-counseling etc. He stressed upon the fact that apart from the institutes, facilities and faculties, parents and their support also play an important role in building the academic career of a student. He further talked about the infrastructure facilities that are made available for the quality education at the department. He also put forth his views regarding the necessity of a Laptop for pursuing smooth learning process in the field of computer science and information technology. He ended his speech by assuring parents a healthy academic, spiritual environment with full of support to the students from every member of the department.

    Ms Jaishree Tailor and Ms Jikitsha Sheth introduce the parents with the institute and its best practices with the help of a presentation. The same was followed by counselor meeting. Good number of parents turned up for the meeting.

    The 2nd parallel session was Talk on Health and Nutrition by Dr.Milind Parekh,in the activity room. He started the session with the explanation of 'Food and its nature'. He asked students to write their favorite food and the reason why that food is favorite. He said that there is physical, religious and social nature of food. He delivered importance of balanced diet and its impact on health. Ms. Himadri Patel, Ms. Yagni Desai, Mr. Sandip Patel were the faculty members who well co-ordinated the session.

    The post lunch session of the 2nd day of the Orientation Program 2012 was enlightened by Mr. Pinkesh Patel by a CD show on Wonders of IT. He made the session very interactive and students found it very resourceful. Ms Bhumika Patel, Ms Hiral Prajapati, Ms Alpesh Patel, Aniket Prajapati, Mr Pratik and Ms Amisha Patel contributed to the success of this session by gathering wonderful videos to thrill the students.

    The 2nd day of the orientation ended with campus visit part 2 where students visit the engineering campus, hostel , mess and BVPIMCT etc. Mr Ketan Naik,Mr Dhirendra Tandel, Mr Aniket Prajapati,Mr Pratik Patel and Mr Alpesh Patel well co-ordinated to make the visit smooth and enjoyable for the students.

    On the 3rd Day students of BCA were given Badges with a Tag ID to smoothly conduct the exciting games and fun.

    A Snake show was organized on the 3rd day of orientation program (i.e. on 4/7/12) at early morning 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Activity Room. During this activity, interesting and surprising information's about different species of snakes were provided by the members of Nature club to newly admitted I.T. buddies of FYBCA and Five years integrated FYM.Sc. (I.T.) students as well as to the show handling Computer Science faculty members involving,Mr. Ketan Naik, Mr. Dhirendra Tandel, Ms. Bhumika Desai, Ms. Bhumika Patel.

    Students with a great enthusiasm enjoyed the show, by viewing the various species of poisonous and nonpoisonous snakes alive as well as on power point presentations. Many confusions or misconceptions of student about snakes were cleared during this session. Some of the female students were panic, when the show was started by viewing the snakes, but after a bit of time, they were fearless and some of them dared to handle live snakes, in their hands. At the end of the show there was a questioning session. Students gained abundant of interesting knowledge about snakes, by asking the questions with the nature club members, with a full of zeal.

    Therefore, in winding up, this session was a great, successful, and full of enthusiasm and imparted the unexposed knowledge of snakes to student, which is one of the living species on earth. So, from this show, students came to know that instead of showing cruelty towards snake, they should be treated with love and harmony. After this session, definitely students boosted up their confidence to handle any fearful situations at any moment of their life.

    With the objective of environmental awareness and to play adventure sports the Team of sarthana nature club, Surat was invited to the institute. It is an NGO working with the mission to save the environment and to create awareness among the local people. New comers enjoyed flying fox. Flying Fox one of the famous adventure sport in which with the help of a rope, students slided down in the air from top end to bottom end. This is so difficult but students had an awesome experience. Mr.ketan Naik, Ms. Bhumika Desai, Mr. Dhirendra Tandel, Mr. Manish Vala, Ms. Bhoomika Patel, Ms. Hetvi Thakor.

    Quiz competition was held with a parallel track of Treasure Hunt. There were total 3 rounds, the 1st round was based on General Knowledge. 2nd round was based on Reasoning and the 3rd round was based on Logo Identification. Overall the quiz was so interesting all the student has participated actively and they had enjoyed . Ms. Jikitsha Sheth,Mr. Amish Patel,Ms. Anuja Vaidya,Mr. Priyank Goel,Ms. Sneha Mandavia,Ms. Puja Sharma worked hard to organize the quiz in a professional manner.3 students of BCA were winners in the pre-lunch quiz competition whereas 5 student in the post lunch quiz.

    Treasure hunt was organized under the guidance of Mr Dharmendra Bhatti. The team members Ms Bhumika Patel, Ms Chetna Tailor, Ms Preeti Bhatt, Ms Ruchi Naik and Ms Puja Kadam carefully designed questions to make the students stand on their toes to get aware of their institute. Teams had tie but were ranked on the basis of time.

    Balloon Joy was overall a thriller. Students enjoyed the blowing, tying the balloon and then bursting the same with a lesson to make them understand the competition, group dynamics etc. Ms Nehal Adhvaryu, Mr Sandeep Patel, Ms Yagni Desai, Mr Sapan Naik and Mr Priyank Goel well managed the game.

    Finally prize distribution was organized and winners of all the games were gifted with a Dairy Milk chocolate to each member of the winning team.

    The 4th day of the orientation program was empowered with Yoga and Meditation by Mr. Haresh Tandel. Ms Bhumika Desai, Ms Ruchi Naik, Mr Krishnamurthy Rudra, Mr Sandip Patel took care for the smooth running of the session.

    Students were then engaged in the book bank and library procedure by Mr Amish Patel.

    The decoration committee which comprised of Ms. Bhumika Desai,Ms Nehal Adhvaryu, Ms Chetana Tailor & Ms Krutika Naik, took care of decorating the Shrimad Hall, Entrance and Rangoli. While the committee handling lunch comprising of Mr Jitendra Upadhyay, Mr Hardik Vyas, Mr. Amish Patel made availed with delicious food and snacks all four days.

    Director Dr. Bankim Patel, Dr Kalpesh Lad, Mr. Jitendra Nasriwala took overall care in facilitating all the faculty members to make the orientation program a memorable success.
