Bardoli Pradesh Kelavani Mandal started its functioning in 1960 in Bardoli. It studied the education scenario in the state of Gujarat and came to the conclusion that development of college of higher education is the need of the region. As such, after careful strategic planning, the Mandal started establishment of the Education Campus at Bardoli in 1961. The complex, which included building, furniture, library, science laboratories, teaching faculty, sports facilities, management committee, etc., was set up with an outlay of Rs 20 lakhs on the 9.93 acres land allotted, which was procured from open markets.

The trust started Arts and Science College in 1963. At that time, a college in science stream was considered a prerequisite or a doorstep for entry in professional courses like Medical Science, Engineering and Pharmacy. It also established the Commerce College in 1972, followed by Diploma Pharmacy College in 1983.

Shri Kalyanji Patel - The Founder Chairman was the key initiator of higher education in the belt of Bardoli. The Trust gave a new name to the campus - "Kalyanji Education Academy" as a humble attempt to honor the pioneering contributions. His has graced the position for more than 20 years and led BPKM to new frontiers.
